This Veterans Day across our great nation, we honor the proud individuals who served our country. We remember the men and women, and their families, who have made the ultimate sacrifice during wartime, those who made it through, and those who gave of their time and commitment during peacetime. We will again remember the willingness and sacrifice of America’s veterans who served our country — service that deserves our lasting gratitude.

History Made As First African American Women Elected UAW Regional Director

DETROIT – Standing before elected delegates from Region 1A local unions, Laura Dickerson made history Friday when she was elected UAW Region 1A Regional Director, the first African American woman to serve as head of a UAW Region.

It is with great sadness to inform you that Gina Downs passed away on Sunday, August 22, 2021 after a long bout with cancer. Gina was a great advocate and supporter for the Veterans. She served on the Veterans Committee at the Rawsonville Plant U.A.W. Local 898, then transferred to Livonia Transmission Plant U.A.W. Local 182. She will be greatly missed and we send our condolences to Dan, her family and all who loved her.
