The Women’s Committee has been busy here at CPG under the leadership of newly elected President Kristina Ellenwood. AWARE of Jackson County was chosen to receive donations as this year’s charity.
AWARE was started in 1977 and is the Abused Women’s Assistance and Resources program to assist victims of domestic and sexual abuse. They also provide group treatment for children from violent homes in collaboration with Catholic Social Services through their Kids First Program and Kids Club. Other resources include the transitional housing program to help families move from the shelter to permanent housing and a legal advocacy program.
Canned goods donations for the AWARE pantry were collected at this year’s Santa Party. Additionally, two beautiful, hand-made Christmas wreaths were made and donated by Department 5460 Durability driver Ginger Kucharczyk. These wreaths were raffled off and the proceeds amounting to $565.00 was donated to the shelter. Amy Barlage also generously donated bedding supplies.
